Ideation

Getting ideas on paper with some rough sketches. I use the rough thumbnail sketches and visualize how I can create an icon using geometric shapes.

 

Rendering

I like designing icons because of the detail oriented constraints like scale and proportion. A big part of icon design is about being thoughtful about how an icon will appear in micro and macro scale. This usually means simplifying the work. I try to think in terms of how simple I can create an icon with the least amount of lines.
